MEDIA ADVISORY, Oct. 6 /Christian Newswire/ -- The motto "We Treat, Jesus Heals" is catching on in a Kenyan hospital. The Tenwek School of Nursing is recognized as one of the best nursing schools in the East African country of Kenya. But for the instructors, the best moments are when students begin to understand how important spiritual care is.
"Recently, four students reported the privilege of leading a patient to the Lord, helping them know God's forgiveness of sin and His redeeming love!" said Christine Stanfield, WGM missionary and teacher at the nursing school. "Others prayed with patients, passed out Bibles, and answered questions from seekers--all in addition to caring for physical needs."
"The School of Nursing at Tenwek is key to empowering Kenyans with the skills to have a promising career and with a heart for spreading the gospel," said Tim Rickel, vice president of Development.
The 3 ½-year program trains students in general and community nursing and midwifery. Nursing students graduate as registered nurses, and most go on to serve at Tenwek Hospital or other hospitals in Kenya. Tenwek Hospital is a ministry of World Gospel Mission, an interdenominational missionary-sending agency. By becoming a training hospital for medical interns, nurses, chaplains, and more, the mission to care for the body and soul has been spread far beyond Tenwek's doors.
Tenwek Hospital is the primary care facility for over 1 million people. Short-term medical personnel, teachers, and more are always welcome. To see ministry opportunities in Kenya, click here.
