LA CROSSE, Wisc., Nov. 28 /Christian Newswire/ -- Christian author Anthony Horvath and Christian artisan Luke Thompson warned today that Christians should pursue a balanced approach to their Christmas shopping, and instead of focusing on boycotting anti-Christian movies and music, they should also consider supporting the work of Christians.
Anthony Horvath is the author of "Fidelis." His book is the first of seven in a fantasy fiction young adult series and recently received a favorable review on Worldnetdaily.com.
Horvath says, "Rather than comment on whether or not the Pullman series should be boycotted, I want to say that the issue is a good opportunity for Christians to re-assess not merely where they don't put their money, but also where they do put it. There are thousands of Christian artists out there who are worthy of attention by the Christian community. For every $20 saved from not going to a movie you don't approve, find some Christian artist at work and put your money there. I am reminded of the passage in Galatians 6 which calls on Christians to do good as they have opportunity, especially to the family of believers."
Luke Thompson and his wife learned the ancient craft of leatherwork while traveling through South America where they were trained by an artisan in Argentina. Thompson has a Masters in Business Ethics and is currently studying to be a minister.
Thompson says, "While the free market is better in many respects than other systems out there, Christians still need to remember that the way we use money and resources is not supposed to be like how the world uses it. In Luke 16, Jesus says something very thought provoking. He says, 'I tell you, use worldly wealth to gain friends for yourselves, so that when it is gone, you will be welcomed into eternal dwellings.' What an amazing passage. What do you think it means?"
Horvath and the Thompson have teamed up together to create one of a kind works of art rather than churning out cheap products that are meant to break after a day or two. The Thompsons produce hand crafted leather covers for the hard cover edition of Horvath's book.
