POTTSTOWN, Penn., Jan. 6, 2020 /Christian Newswire/ -- New Age ideas have been steadily creeping into our local retreat centers and parish programs for years – the enneagram, "Christian" yoga, Eastern meditation, Reiki – while at the same time, the glorious mystical teachings of the Church are falling further and further into the background. For Catholics who are tired of these trends, but don't know how to change it, the Catholic Life Institute is offering a solution.

Co-founded by Susan Brinkmann, OCDS, Director of New Age research at Women of Grace® and frequent guest on EWTN television and radio, the Catholic Life Institute offers on-line classes and workshops in the Carmelite tradition which are specifically designed for parishioners who want to learn authentic Catholic mysticism. In addition to regularly scheduled classes, all courses are also offered on-demand – meaning groups can schedule their own class on the day and time of their choosing.

For example, Pray Like a Catholic teaches the "Four Waters" of prayer according to Teresa of Avila. Live Like a Catholic takes students on a tour through The Interior Castle and opens their eyes to the adventures of the interior life. Live the Little Way teaches St. Therese's Little Way of Spiritual Childhood. Mindful Like a Catholic teaches the Catholic version of mindfulness as found in the Practice of the Presence of God and the Sacrament of the Present Moment. Fight Like a Catholic (coming this Fall) teaches spiritual warfare in the Catholic tradition. The Institute also offers a variety of conferences from How to Survive the Yoga Wars to How to Acquire Peace of Soul.

Being on-demand allows any parish group, prayer ministry, pro-life club, or group of five or more friends to take a class together. Classes are typically one hour in length and include a lecture, discussion time, a workbook, and plenty of time for Q&A. All course material has an imprimatur from the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.

"In my many years of teaching Catholic spirituality in the Carmelite tradition to every day parishioners, I have found that when they come to understand the full extent of Catholic mysticism, and all it has to offer them, they're shocked. They can't believe no one is teaching this," Susan said.

It's time to learn how to live like Catholics, without fear, compromise, or apology.
