ENUMCLAW, Wash., November 8 /Christian Newswire/ -- God designed people to work together. But just as there are dysfunctional families and relationships, contends Christian author and speaker Christine A. Ayala, there are also dysfunctional Christians and churches. In her new book, "One Spirit One Church" [Pleasant Word, 2007], Ayala encourages Christians to put aside their denominational differences and join together to tackle the pressing issues of today's society. "This book isn't intended to either endorse or bash any particular denomination," says Ayala. "It's about what it means to be a believer in Jesus Christ in this day and age. God asks us to overcome our differences and to put our focus on the things that we have in common."
In "One Spirit One Church," Ayala contends that finding common ground is the key to progress and true unity. "It's important to point out that unity is not conformity, it is harmony. We need to identify the unique differences that complement and assist one another. This is how we can move together to achieve something greater than a single person or denomination ever could."
"Skeptics may say, 'We can't even get along in our own congregations. How on earth will we get along with other churches and denominations?'" says Ayala. "My response is simple. By God's ability, not ours." In addition to founding One Spirit One Church Ministries, Ayala is a gifted musician with a Bachelor's degree in music. She has served churches in various capacities including Music and Worship Director, Liturgist and Pastoral Assistant.
