Exodus Mandate Names West Virginia State Coordinator

Contact: Chaplain (Lt. Col., USAR Ret.) E.  Ray Moore, Jr., Exodus Mandate, 803-714-1744

COLUMBIA, SC, Mar. 8 /Christian Newswire/ -- E. Ray Moore, Jr., Director of the Exodus Mandate Project, announced that Karl C. Priest of Poca, West Virginia, has been appointed as State Coordinator for the Exodus Mandate West Virginia ministry.  Priest is a retired public school math teacher who also has experience as a principal in public and Christian schools.

He earned his B.S. from West Virginia State College and an M.A. from West Virginia College of Graduate Studies.  He is a US Navy veteran.  Priest has 34 years experience in teaching; the last 9 years in Kanawha County public schools as a junior high and middle school math teacher.

Moore said, “Exodus Mandate is fortunate to have Karl Priest as State Coordinator.  He is a committed Christian who has seen the dark inside of public schooling.  Priest has come to believe in the necessity of K-12 Christian schools or home schooling as the way for churches and Christian families to educate their children.”

In accepting his appointment, Priest said, “My experience in trying to get a balanced treatment of the scientific facts of creation taught in public schools has proven that they can not be reformed.  Public school classroom teachers are so encumbered with administration and discipline concerns that there is little time for teaching. The dumbing down of the curriculum leaves little room for academics. The schools are now so controlled by the ACLU and teachers’ unions that the spiritual environment is detrimental to all children, especially to Christian children.”

“According to the Manhattan Institute Educational Freedom Index (http://www.manhattan-institute.org/html/cr_14.htm ), West Virginia is ranked 49th in public school freedom and 50th in home school freedom,” Priest  said.  “With God’s help we plan to grow K-12 Christian schools and home schooling in West Virginia.”

Moore added this caveat, “While West Virginia, as a Bible-belt state, has a high Christian population, state-sponsored public schools have gained wide-spread acceptance by churches and pastors, a position inimical to the Christian Faith.”

Karl Priest can be contacted at State Coordinator, Exodus Mandate, PO Box 7212, Cross Lanes, WV 25356 (phone 304.769.0217) and at www.Exodusmandate-wv.org.
