COLORADO SPRINGS, Mar. 6 /Christian Newswire/ -- Grandparents want to spend time with their grandchildren – sharing family traditions, building relationship bonds, and passing on the accumulated wisdom of a lifetime to the youngest generation. Grandkids want to spend time with their grandparents – having fun, doing cool activities, and discovering things about their grandparents they never knew before. Where can all of these terrific things take place? At a GrandCamp!

GrandCamps are the brainchild of Christian Grandparenting Network's Cavin Harper. A GrandCamp is an exciting experience for grandparents of any age and grandchildren from ages 7-12. Each GrandCamp is a five-day, four-night session at the beautiful Christ Haven Lodge near Florissant, Colorado. Those of us who remember summer camp from our childhood will be transported to innocent days of roasting marshmallows on a campfire, horseback riding, arts and crafts, songs and all the familiar, comfortable images of camp.

Each GrandCamp is designed to help generations bond through outdoor and indoor activities, all presented in a Christian context of sharing the spiritual fire from one generation to the next. Grandparents are in a unique position to connect with their grandkids at a soul level and help them understand such things as loving, giving, honesty, community, commitment, respect and honor, to name a few . . . . Grand Camps are intended to challenge grandparents to rise up with renewed vision and vigor to assume this vital, God-ordained role.

GrandCamps help grandparents focus their God-given gifts to fan the flame of faith, and ignite that passion for God in grandchildren. Playing and praying together are simple, fun ways to accomplish that goal. Grand Camps pull kids away from distractions of TV, computer and video games, and into a breathtaking setting where the focus is on relationship and family.

Recreational opportunities abound at GrandCamp, with craft classes, fun activities and a full complement of outdoor adventures, including hiking, fishing, swimming, whitewater rafting, and field trips. GrandCamps also offer special grandparenting classes designed to help grandparents effectively communicate with their grandkids.

This year's GrandCamps are scheduled for July 23-27 and July 30-August 3, 2007. GrandCamp fees include 4 nights lodging, all meals from supper on day of arrival through breakfast on day of departure, classes and notebooks, crafts projects, swimming, rafting, hiking, horseback riding, a cowboy cookout, and more!

Cavin Harper created the Christian Grandparenting Network when his own parents and others expressed to him their dissatisfaction with retirement. Rev. Harper realized that the role of idle retiree was not part of God's intention for family elders and founded CGN in order to help grandparents reclaim their rightful role in the family. Grandparents are a key element in proclaiming the goodness of God to the youngest members of each family, and their upright example and righteous living set paths for grandchildren that lead to positive and healthy outcomes. CGN provides free resources and events like Grand Camps to assist the older generation in fulfilling their biblical role in God's plan for the family.
