WASHINGTON, July 12 /Christian Newswire/ -- Heritage Foundation President Edwin Feulner today issued the following statement on the death of former White House press secretary Tony Snow:
"Not many of us could excel with Tony Snow's grace and humility as an editorial writer and columnist, opinion editor and commentator, presidential speechwriter, and TV and radio talk-show host -- much less as a deft, loyal White House press secretary and pretty good rock musician.
"Nor could many of us summon Tony's humor and courage -- and the unashamed assurance of his Creator's love -- in the face of a public struggle with cancer.
"Washington and the nation have lost one of Kentucky's homespun gifts to public life, the stouthearted son of a teacher and nurse who cherished his country and was devoted to its founding principles.
"The conservative movement is indebted to Tony for carrying on the saber-witted tradition of William F. Buckley Jr., and will miss his rallying presence on the field.
"Tony's colleagues and friends -- including so many here at The Heritage Foundation who enjoyed his visits -- also have lost a kind, gentle and reliable pal.
"Our hearts and prayers are with his wife, Jill Ellen, and their three children. May the Lord, who blessed and transformed Tony as a husband and father before calling him home, comfort them in their grief."
