Houston Mayor Annise Parker Honors Community Based Fitness Group for Their Commitment to Helping People Get Their Groove Back

HOUSTON, Texas, Aug. 19, 2013 /Christian Newswire/ -- Mayor Annise Parker declared August 17th as "Groove 44 Fitness Team Day" in Houston. The proclamation was given to honor Mia Trevillion-Barney, founder of Groove 44 Fitness Team, for her diligent work in transforming the lives and health conditions of countless individuals in the city of Houston with a focus on those living in the Acres Home community. The proclamation was presented at Groove 44 Fitness Team's "Stepping for the Students--A School Supply Drive with a Line Dance Twist" on Saturday August 17, 2013 where they collected donations of new school supplies to help families in need get their children ready to start the school year.
During the presentation at Drew Middle School, an excerpt from Mayor Parker's statement was read, "Mia Trevillion-Barney has empowered many participants … through her motto, 'Making Your Workout Your Fun while Getting Your Groove Back. The city of Houston commends Mia Trevillion-Barney and Groove 44 Fitness Team for their accomplishments and commitment to health and wellness in the community."
Following the presentation, Groove 44 Fitness Team lead those in attendance in some of the latest cardio urban line dances including the "Wobble" and Groove 44 Fitness Team's original line dance, "Get Low."
