WASHINGTON, April 19 /Christian Newswire/ -- The Supreme Court finally upheld the ban on Partial Birth Abortions by a 5-4 Decision authored by Justice Anthony Kennedy!  Joined by justices Scalia, Thomas, Alito, and Chief Justice John Robert, the decision means that children no longer will be killed by being delivered 4/5s of the way before having their brains sucked out.

"I believe that this decision could be a major turning point in restoring protection to every unborn child," declares Janet Folger.  "When this case was debated before legislators, I think many saw for the first time just how barbaric this slaughter of human life is.   Something in them changed.  They got a glimpse of the brutality of abortion."

"I think that it's very significant what Justice Kennedy wrote," Janet adds.   In his ruling, Kennedy wrote that "the state has legitimate interest from the pregnancy's outset in protecting the health of the woman and the life of the fetus that may become a child."  "We know that it already is a child, but Faith2Action sees this as a very encouraging sign".

The first state Ban on Partial Birth Abortion was signed into law on August 16, 1995 in Ohio -- the same year that Congress introduced the bill for a federal ban on the procedure.  Since then, more than 30 states have followed suit.

"It's been more than a decade since we passed the nation's first ban on partial birth abortions," said Janet Folger, who was Legislative Director of Ohio Right to Life at the time. "It's time to protect the rest of the kids who are being killed as brutally by dismemberment and chemical warfare.   It's time to finish the job.  Now is the time to restore protection to children."
