WASHINGTON, Jan. 17 /Christian Newswire/ -- The only pro-life prayer service that takes place in the Capitol complex each year will convene in the US Senate Hart building after being shut out earlier this week.
"For the last thirteen years we have gathered for prayer in the US Capitol, but this year we were previously told we would not be given room - today we were told the Rules Committee reversed and opened the Hart 902 Room," said Dr. Paul Schenck, coordinator of the event.
After being shut out, it was announced the service would take place in a Capitol Hill church. Now the service will take place in the US Senate Hart building at 2nd St NE and Constitution Ave in Washington, in Room 902. The public must be seated at 8:30 AM, clergy are asked to attend in clerical garb at 8 AM.
Those in attendance will include: Bishop Demetrios Kantzavelos, Orthodox Bishop of Chicago; Fr. Frank Pavone, national director of Priests for Life; Rev. Dr. Johnny Hunter, founder of LEARN, the largest African American pro-life organization; Rev. Kenneth Barney of the New Antioch Baptist Church, one of the largest African American churches in the DC Metro area; and Annapolis attorney Stephen G. Peroutka, founder of National Pro-Life Radio as well as many others.
