Who's Responsible for Designing the Designer?

SAN FRANCISCO, May 19, 2015 /Christian Newswire/ -- One of the most contentious topics atheists and Christian discuss is who, if anyone, designed the world and, if there is one designer, who created the designer? In his new book, WHO DESIGNED THE DESIGNER?, philosopher and Thomas Aquinas College professor Michael Augros poses rarely asked questions that enable his readers to find out for themselves:

  • The impossibility of a "universe without a cause"

  • Why nature must be the offspring of intelligence

  • Why an undesigned designer is not only a possibility, but a necessity

  • Why the first cause of all things must be the most perfect being

Augros shows, by purely rational means, that there is indeed a first cause of all things, and that this cause must be a mind. WHO DESIGNED THE DESIGNER? is distinguishable from the numerous other "There is a God" books for five reasons:

  1. It takes a new, non-polemical approach to the question of a designer.

  2. It slowly and carefully develops a single proof for the existence of a mind behind the universe.

  3. It does not call upon you to trust in the observations or theories of others, such as scientists, but instead reasons exclusively from things you can verify for yourself.

  4. This book solves certain fundamental problems of theism, of which the atheists are aware, but which current theistic books largely ignore.

  5. The certainty reached in this book is greater than that attained in science-based books for or against a designer.

Interweaving its pursuit of the First Cause with personal stories and humor, Augros' groundbreaking book takes a fresh approach to ultimate questions. While attentive to empirical science, it builds its case not on authoritative pronouncements of experts, which readers must take on faith, but instead upon a nuanced understanding of universal principles implicit in everyone's experience.

Drawing from this non-sectarian source, WHO DESIGNED THE DESIGNER? forges common philosophical ground for Muslims, Jews, Protestants, Catholics and non-religious thinkers with an open mind. Augros' book is essential reading for all people who care about contemplating God, not exclusively as a best-explanation for the findings of science, but also as the surprising-yet-inevitable implication of our commonsense contact with reality.

Writing with the conviction that timeless truths are not the property of the geniuses who happened first to give them voice, Augros harnesses such intellects as Plato, Aristotle and Aquinas, ushering into the light a wealth of powerful inferences that have hitherto received little or no public exposure. The result is an easygoing yet extraordinary journey, beginning from the world as we all encounter it and ending in the divine mind.

"This is, quite simply, the single best book I have ever read on what most of us would regard as the single most important question of philosophy: Does God exist?" Peter Kreeft, Ph.D., Boston College, says of WHO DESIGNED THE DESIGNER? "I shall definitely make this book required reading for my Boston College classes in philosophy of religion as well as medieval philosophy and Aquinas. On all counts this book gets an A-plus. It will inevitably become a classic."
