CHADDS FORD, Penn., Mar. 27 /Christian Newswire/ -- In cooperation with Steve Hawthorne of WayMakers, www.waymakers.org, PhotoMission photographers contributed images for the cover and content of a ten-day prayer guide calling God’s people to pray throughout the world. The guide will be used May 17-26 in preparation for Sunday, May 27th, when Christians in nearly every country will assemble in their churches, homes and various public venues to pray on Pentecost.
Pentecost serves as a day of unity for Christ’s followers worldwide. It is a day of repentance and prayer for the forgiveness of sins, the restoration of the church, and the healing of the nations. At the dawn of the Millennium, a small group of believers in Cape Town, South Africa, called others to join them in praying for their city and their nation. A full-scale international prayer movement subsequently arose to coincide with Pentecost and became known as the Global Day of Prayer. Each year the number of nations that register to participate in this day increases through an online sign-up process found at www.globaldayofprayer.com.
In a related endeavor to support the body of Christ, the photographers of PhotoMission helped Pastor Steve Buss launch a new website featuring photographs of people praying. The website, www.onehopenetwork.org, represents a pastors’ network for communicating news and planning the Global Day of Prayer in Eugene, Oregon.
WayMakers is a mobilization ministry focused on seeing Christ glorified by obedient, worshiping movements in every people group. Based in Austin, Texas, Waymakers prints literature to help people pray in the simple power of Biblical hope for others living in their communities and for people living in distant places.
PhotoMission is a worldwide community of Christian photographers witnessing for Christ through their online testimonies and using the talents He has given them to visually support the growth of the Gospel. The ministry currently has 187 members living in 29 countries. Its website is found at www.photomission.com.
