Tony Dungy Wants Churches to Help Raise Awareness About Adoption on Sunday February 5th with Video Message
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., Jan. 30, 2012 /
Christian Newswire/ -- On Sunday February 5th, churchgoers will not have to wait until the evening to hear commentary from a Super Bowl winning coach. That is because church leaders will be able to play a free downloadable video message featuring Super Bowl winning coach Tony Dungy and his wife Lauren during the typical announcement time of a Sunday worship service.
Tony & Lauren Dungy's video message frames the orphan crisis in our country today with an appeal to the local church to act. The Dungy family has adopted several children personally and is involved with The Adoption Journey Project (
www.adoptionjourney.org) to help influence more couples to consider adoption.
"The big win on Super Sunday would be to raise awareness about the millions of children who need a family," said Dungy, the winning head coach of the 2007 Super Bowl Champion Indianapolis Colts. Challenging church leaders, Tony says "You have an incredible opportunity to start a movement. One that says we won't rest until the orphan crisis has ended."
"From an early age, I saw relatives and families in our church adopt or foster children. Because our church talked about it, adoption felt natural to Tony and me," said Lauren Dungy.
• Almost half (48%) of Americans say they would go to their place of worship for information or advice about adopting according to a national survey.
• And 78% of Americans think the country should be doing more to encourage adoption. (Source: Harris Interactive National Adoption Attitudes Survey).
The Tony Dungy Church Announcement Video offers one tool for pastors and their church communities to make an impact in this area.
