Christian Newswire/ -- Stewie Griffin of FOX's Family Guy stated in January 2015 that Jesus didn't die on the cross. Cocaine was the cause said the Doctor. Yeah, I'm gonna need to see those forms (God changes the death certificate to a "supposed" lie - crucifixion). From Hanna-Barbera's "The Flintstones" to Easter animosity a lot has changed since the early 1960's but when did it start?
Matt Groening's "The Simpson's" began this satirically hostile war on faith in the late 1980's prompting South Park creators to go "darker" followed by Seth MacFarlane, the bitter creator of FOX's Family Guy, and Donick Cary (Lil' Bush). To this day animators seek to outdo Groening's "Christ dyed eggs for your sins," a Simpson's Church marquee homage to faith.
In "Lil' Bush," Judas was thanked for causing Jesus' execution and pancake syrup was called "the delicious blood of Christ." MacFarlane's "Family Guy" featured an encounter between Judas and Pontius Pilate in which Judas says, "You know, sometimes I feel like someone should just crucify Jesus of Nazareth. Oh, my God!" In response Pilate says, "this is so weird, because just today, I was thinking about how I wanted to find the son of God and nail him to some wood." Judas says, "well, let's go find him and kick his (expletive)!" MacFarlane's youtube video "Me and Jesus" features a crucified Broadway Jesus with a dancing cane caught through his once nailed hand.
Why bring up these issues to Christian readership? Many believers that I know laugh at dark humor designed to attack the Bible. Where is their ability to filter satire from sacrilege? I appreciate and admittedly laugh at some parts of these programs but when my faith is attacked I'm not afraid to strongly object and take action, stated Rick Dack who created the "Biographies of the Bible" classes for churches and schools. These classes for congregations and Bible students include information on faith-friendly animation alternatives, Hollywood Bible myths exposed, 3D animations of Bible sites, Hollywood stories of faith, archaeological biographies of Bible characters and more.
