DENVER, Colo., Oct. 11 /Christian Newswire/ -- Promise Keepers, the international ministry to men, premieres an all-new theater-based experience this fall, featuring champion NFL coach and outspoken Christian Tony Dungy. "PKAdventure" is a 90-minute theater presentation, highlighted by an up close and personal interview with Dungy, a small group drama from the LA-based Awaken drama troupe, insights from onscreen emcee Reggie Dabbs, and music by Promise Keepers' own national worship team PK7.
Registration is now open for each "PKAdventure" theater event premiering on Saturday, November 10, at 8:00 a.m. local time in 14 cities around the U.S. Many of the men who attend the theater event will leave the theater to spend a few hours on a variety of local community service projects.
"The 'PKAdventure' event is absolutely different from the national arena conference," said Dr. Tom Fortson, president and CEO of Promise Keepers. "Three hundred men in a theater setting will have a more personal experience. And having the men spend a few hours together helping their communities also exemplifies integrity in action and helps to make the Seven Promises more tangible."
Community Impact
"Men want to do things together," said Dr. Fortson. "Men will want to bring their friends to this non-threatening, male-friendly environment. Furthermore, our communities are always blessed when promise keepers pull together across lines of zip code, church label, race and age to do good things."
The local community service projects, many taking place immediately after the "PKAdventure" screenings, can range from food collection to home repair to mentoring sessions with younger men and boys.
Dungy on faith
"When I was 21, I saw a couple of my teammates who made a difference in my life just by the way they lived, by the way they did things on a day to day basis. That's what made an impact on me," says Tony Dungy in the exclusive interview for the "PKAdventure" premiere. Dungy is author of the best-selling Quiet Strength: The Principles, Practices, & Priorities of a Winning Life (Tyndale House). Dungy says that accountability with a few other guys keeps him anchored in his pressure-cooker job. "We read the same passages at work and we're able to discuss them even if it's five minutes between lunch and walking out to practice - just making sure we stay fine tuned (and) we stay on course."
