Advent Film Group Presents 'Lessons From COME WHAT MAY Movie' at the January 2009 Christian Filmmakers Academy

MEDIA ADVISORY, Dec. 10 /Christian Newswire/ -- The tide has turned for the independent Christian film movement launched by Vision Forum just five years ago with the goal of reforming culture. 2009 marks the entry of feature-length films at the annual San Antonio Independent Christian Film Festival. Preceding the festival is the Film Academy, which provides over 20 hours of formal instructions. Advent Film Group (AFG) will present lessons learned from their award-winning production of "Come What May" (CWM) on Wednesday, January 7. AFG recently signed a distribution deal with Provident Films (a unit of Sony) and the distributor of blockbuster hits: "Fireproof" and "Facing The Giants."

"Come What May" has several notable "firsts" in Christian filmmaking:
 

  1. First feature film made by and about Patrick Henry College (PHC), a national powerhouse in collegiate moot court and debate (12 PHC students worked on CWM).
     
  2. First full-length movie streamed online by the American Family Association and GodTube to help inform voters during the November elections.
     
  3. First independent Christian movie that shows how the U.S. Supreme Court could overturn Roe vs. Wade.
     
  4. First feature film completed by homeschoolers coming out of the San Antonio Independent Christian Film Festival movement.
