Tonight at 4:30 p.m. - Survivors Campus Life Tour to Speak Out on Partial Birth Abortion Ban at California State Capitol

Contact: Kortney Blythe, Survivors of the Abortion Holocaust, 704-778-2702

SACRAMENTO, April 18 /Christian Newswire/ -- A group of young people will speak out this evening from 4:30-6 p.m. on the steps of the State Capitol in Sacramento, California, where members of the Campus Life Tour, a project of the Survivors of the Abortion Holocaust, will demonstrate in response to the United States Supreme Court's decision upholding the federal ban on partial birth abortions.

Campus Life Tour team members, young men and women between the ages of 18 and 30, will take a stand on the steps of the Capitol to pray, reflect, and speak out regarding the partial birth abortion ban. The Campus Life Tour is currently visiting campuses in the Sacramento area, as part of the Tour's goal to visit 200 high schools and colleges across America during the academic year. This event will take place following a Campus Life Tour outreach on a local campus.

Speaking from the Survivors headquarters in Riverside, California, Executive Director Cheryl Conrad made this statement regarding today's Supreme Court decision: "I applaud the efforts of all who have worked tirelessly to see an end to the barbaric partial-birth abortion procedure, and thank the many individuals who sacrificed to make this day possible. However, I also call upon the United States Congress to consider their job as just beginning, and demand that additional laws are introduced which will end all abortion procedures. Partial birth abortion is a gruesome and barbaric procedure that turns the stomachs of American citizens, but all abortion procedures from conception through birth produce the same result – a murdered child – and should be considered with just as much horror and revulsion by our society."

"We appreciate that 5 Supreme Court justices recognized the barbaric nature of the partial birth abortion procedure," says Kortney Blythe, Director of the Campus Life Tour. "However, any procedure that systematically dismembers a human child is horrific and should be outlawed. The partial birth abortion procedure kills a partially born baby by sticking scissors into the skull and vacuuming out the baby's brains. Equally horrifying are other earlier abortion procedures which rip a baby's body limb from limb – and all forms of abortion should be banned in this country."

According to Joey Cox, CLT team member: "It is tragic that it's taken our nation 34 years to ban this one form of infanticide. We must not let another 34 years pass before ending child-killing altogether. I speak for many members of my generation, the Survivors of America's abortion holocaust, when I say that banning partial birth abortion is not enough. It is a start in the right direction, but we will not be satisfied until all preborn children are protected from conception to birth."
