FRONT ROYAL, Va., Jan. 17, 2013 /Christian Newswire/ -- Tonight, Steven Mosher will speak at the Catholic University of America on "The Winter of Western Civilization." A talk about the declining population in the West and the impact this will have on the influence of the Christian culture worldwide.

The birthrate in the West is far below replacement, and continues to drop. Europeans are barely having children anymore. Meanwhile, pro-family sects such as Islam are populating the Christian West more and more, replacing the age-old Christian civilization.

Any dying population will have significant negative impacts on its own economy as well as those surrounding it. When this happens to the entire West, however, whose culture has helped shape more than just its own civilization, the consequences will be globally detrimental.

"Europe, the historic fountainhead of Christianity, is dying a slow death through depopulation," says Mosher. "What does demography have to say about the future of Christianity? Is Islam winning what Yassir Arafat, among others, has called the battle of the cradle? How important are the anti-natal programs of Western governments, which often target majority Christian countries, in lowering the birth rate?"

These are but a few of the questions Mosher will be addressing in his talk tonight. The talk is put on by CUA Students for Life and will take place at 7:30pm in Hannon 108. All are welcome to attend.
