DENVER, Sept. 20 /Christian Newswire/ -- The multiple award-winning feature film will open in select theaters starting with a premiere in Denver. The film premieres September 22, 2006 at Starz Film Center located in the Tivoli at 900 Auraria Parkway.

Darla Rae, director, producer, and writer of The Goal said, “I think it’s interesting, some have said it’s too preachy or too Christian for mainstream, while others have said it’s not Christian enough. Personally I think it’s ridiculous. You don’t have to beat people over the head with the Bible to deliver a message of hope. The Goal does just that. I think anyone who sees The Goal will be moved and motivated, inspired if you will. It makes you feel like you can overcome those obstacles in your life, whether you’re in a wheelchair or not. Basically I lived The Goal while making it. Many people told me I was crazy. But passion and God’s provisions along the way drove me.”

It has taken Rae 12 years since she first conceived the idea for The Goal. However, once Rae and the cast and crew started filming last year it only took 15 days to shoot, 60 days to edit on a laptop and a budget of $50,000.

The film has won three international film festival awards to date. Rae and her film have also been invited to Milan Italy to participate in the Milano International Film Festival and the film was picked up by Maverick Entertainment for worldwide distribution on DVD and television. Rae feels that giving back to the community that helped her make the film is important. "It's simple really. The whole point of The Goal is to give back," said Rae.

Rae’s company Film It Productions is handling other limited theatrical releases in select areas. Theatrical release starts in Denver September 22, Nashville, October 6, Houston, October 12, Detroit, November 3, and Gadsden, Alabama, November 10. All theatrical screenings will benefit the disabled community, and other Christian non-profits. “The theatrical release is not as big as we had hoped for but I believe it will be seen by millions, and will touch hearts,” said Rae
